Lose Weight on a Budget

You know the health benefits of exercising, eating healthy and losing weight.  There is plenty of help on the internet and on TV.  Everywhere you look there are new “breakthrough” gadgets and eating programs that promise to help you transform your life, for a hefty fee.

You can start an effective weight loss program without much expense.  In fact, starting an effective program should save you money.  You likely save significant dollars in medical expenses over a lifetime.

Here are things you are incorporate to lose weight without breaking your budget:

Exercise:  The easiest and least expensive of all options is walking.  All you need is a pair of shoes.  Many studies have shown that walking can be as effective as running in terms of heart health.  Walking at a brisk pace can also burn hundreds of calories in as little as 30 minutes.

Weight Lifting:  For as little as $15 you can buy some small weights and do a home weight training program.  You should weight train three days per week and it can take as little as 20 minutes.  Many exercises such as push-ups and lunges don’t require any equipment.

Nutrition:  Eating healthy doesn’t have to cost more money.  The first thing to think about when visiting the grocery store is to avoid processed foods.  This can be tough because it’s easy to get addicted to processed foods, and many of them can be cheap.  Try to stick to the perimeter of the store and focus your time and attention to whole foods, such as vegetables, fruits, and other items with minimal processing.  Look for sales on produce and consider visiting your local farmers market.  Another great option for cheap produce is to grown your own!  For example, you can grow pounds and pounds of green beans, tomatoes and corn for under $5 worth of seeds.

Don’t use cost as an excuse of why you can’t lose weight.  At the end of the day weight loss boils down to eating less and moving more.  Neither of these things needs to cost significant money.  Continue to use FreeWeightLoss.com for free help.  Also use our message boards as a support system and to get answers to any of your questions.
