Dont buy into gimmics. Rosemary connally, jenny craig, weight watchers, slim fast...they are all just quick fix scams. Yes if you stick to them for the alloted period of time, you will lose weight...but how long before it all comes back on? My answer...very quickly (i'v tried most of them) the thing is you may get down to your goal weight using them, but soon you have to come off the slim shakes and the tiny portioned meals, and thats when you find out the heartbreaking truth-it took you a month to get rid of 6pound...now your back on real food it will take you just a week to regain that 6 pound. Instead rechearch it yourself and come up with your own 'diet' or what i prefere to call lifestyle change. 1. Skip the diet meals. instead eat the same food you usually would only off a smaller plate...voila! a reduced calorie meal. your still getting the food you want just in smaller quantities. 2. snacking is good for you...just choose the right snacks. eat a childs size choc bar instead of a mars bar. again your satisfying your craving without consuming massive amounts of calories. And remember fruit and nuts are good snack foods to. And remember to take it easy. if you usually eat 3 choclaty snacks a day, cut it down to 2 make the 3rd fruit or nuts. do this for a few weeks then make the second fruit or nuts, then the when you feel ready make them all fruit or nuts and see how much weight you loose doing it. dont completly deprive yourself if you want a choc snack then have it, but limit it to say twice a week. 3. Water, water, water! yes we should all drink 8 glasses a day. but i found this quite hard to do straight away. so i stepped myself in. i drank a glass a day for a few days, then a glass and a half for a few days, then 2 glasses...etc. as long as you end up at your goal it doesnt mean it has to be a race.

Continued from above as i had probs with server!
4. excercise. They say to do a little everyday. but for some of us thats hard if youve never excercised before. so again step yourself in. do half hour twice a week for a few weeks, then 3 times a week for a few weeks and so on. yes if you do lots of excercise straight away youll lose weight quicker...but this can also be counter productive. Firstly, think of your heart! you dont want to put to much strain on it because youv gone all out after never having excersised before. secondly you may even lose motivation. doing the same excercise dvd or going to the gym every single day for an hour may get boring. vary it do your dvd one day the gym the next, then have a day off, dont beat yourself up because you havent done x amount of excercise this week, youll just end up getting depressed and thinking whats the point.
5. willpower. I started of with very little so when i stsrted the gym i only managed 2 20min sessions. then i did 2 30 min sessions. when i could cope with this i added another day, and then another. I go 5 days a week now for an hour at a time (i give myself the weekend off!) and i found that because i stepped myself into it my will power increased, it made me want to get up and do it. if i had started doing 5 days a week straight off the bat i wouldnt have lasted 2 weeks before my lack of will reared its ugly lil head.
6. positivity is key. always think the best of yourself. dont think i put on this week so ill give up now. think ill do better next week and think of the reasons why you put on then alter that so you dont repeat the same mistake. also rid yourself of negative people. I had a friend who tried to cut me down at every oppertunity and it made me feel crap. then i realised that i was losing weight whilst she was getting bigger...she was jealous.by surrounding myself with positive people i did and felt better.

To lose weight you have to stay focused. You also cannot be too hard on yourself if you should slip up. You simply need to get right back on the wagon. There is no magic bullet...eating right and exercise combined with patience and visualizing yourself at a lower weight can really work wonders for you.

Imagine how easy it would be to lose weight if you absolutely knew that you could do it. If you knew for a fact, if you were CERTAIN, that you could actually look slim and healthy, the daily steps along the way would come with ease and joy. It comes down to having a vision of what you want. Because once you have a strong vision of your future, the confidence and certainty will immediately follow. As your vision on the inside becomes more compelling than external impressions, change is in the making.

Losing weight and learning to keep it off does not have to be a difficult and arduous task. You need to learn to enjoy the food you’re eating, or your weight loss efforts will be sabotaged. Remember, it’s not only about losing weight. It’s also learning to live a healthier lifestyle. Reading nutritional labels is one weight loss tip that will help you eat more nutritionally.

Hello! I am new to this forum. I used to be overweight and managed to lose it to a good healthy BMI weight. Over the past 5 years my weight has fluctuated though I have not managed to hit that overweight barrier again phew! In my experience the best way to lose weight is with a healthy diet and regular exercise. Crash diets, sudden bursts of strenuous exercise and pills seem to cause more problems than gains and as a smart person once said - it took you time to put on the weight, it will take just as long to lose it. I managed to lose most of my weight when I started working in a restaurant oddly enough. Although i was eating healthily and regularly I was constantly on my feet running around. Not that that is healthy exercise but running up and down 2 flights of stairs all the time with food and drinks really makes you fit. I now have a new office job but I cycle to work everyday, I eat 3 healthy meals a day and I have never felt better. It's all about eating and exercising to not only make you lose weight but to make you feel good about yourself too.

Hello Everyone, I am new here. I have been trying to lose weight for a while now, some diet tips I know and learn from others too are quite effective. I have been doing some basic cardio routine for 30 minutes, 5 times weekly. I have changed my eating habits into taking in more of fresh fruits and vegetables. I really keep my daily habit of drinking 8 glasses of water daily. I would have to say that changing my eating habits was one of the hardest thing I would have to go through with losing weight. Hope this simple weight loss tips can help other members too. Thanks!

There are a plenty of weight loss tips that have been discussed here but the thing that how efficiently we follow it is something that matters the most. I just tend to keep it simple: a healthy and a varying diet which I plan on a weekly bases, regular exercise, drink lots of water to keep the body lubricated in a proper manner and adequate sleep so as to provide rest to the body. This would sum up my tips for a healthy weight loss programe.
