My name is Lynda. I am 5'2", 52 years old. I weighed 225.2 on August 7, 2006. I have Diabetes Type II and was in pretty bad health back in August. Was very depressed, didn't want to do much of anything or go anywhere. When I was at work I wanted to be home. When I was at home I wanted to go to bed. When I went to bed I wanted to get up. I just wasn't comfortable in my own skin anymore. My blood sugar was out of control. It went as high as 319 and most of the time was in the 200's. I couldn't get it down and I couldn't stop eating. I was eating so much junk and I just couldn't stop it.
I went to a Diabetes Education class and literally had the you know what scared out of me. It was a real wake up call. I knew I had to take control again and start eating healthy and get regular exercise. The exercise was not easy because I have a very bad knee. It's a vicious circle. If I don't exercise I always pack on the pounds. I started walking just one to three minutes at a time. It took my breath away and really hurt my knee. I gradually increased the minutes each time and now I'm back to walking a good long walk again, even going up a hill. It feels so good to be doing this again.
I weigh 193.8 pounds now. I've lost 31.4 pounds since August 7. My goal is to get to 160 pounds by June 1st. Once I make that goal I will create a new goal. I feel alive again!
