Just for fun (off topic)....

Lately, I have come to feel that only jokes and my Stephen King novels take my mind off the miseries of dieting--humor and horror.
This post pertains to humor.
I am starting to compile material for a possible book.
I am interested in phony lines and phony situations with which we are all familiar. Things that happen a lot but which we all have come to realize are phony.
Example:
When the doctor or dentist says, "There may be some discomfort with the procedure." That one's my own favorite phony line and has actually made me burst into wild laughter even while directly and immediately facing an "uncomfortable"(LOL-LOL-LOL!!!) medical or dental procedure. There ought to be a class action suit about that one!
Then there are the love life phony lines, such as..."I still love you. I'm just not IN love with you." (No one's ever actually figured out what this means but it sure doesn't sound good to the one hearing it!)
Or: "It's not you. It's me. You're just too good for me." (Often said by men who already have another chick waiting in the wings).
Or: "I just didn't know how to tell you about her." (He could have used English, the language he and she have in common!)
And famous ones that have actually become part of the language such as, "The check's in the mail."
If you are willing to share, please post your favorite phony lines or situations. I will assume, since there are no copyright laws pertaining to phony lines, that I can use them if I do write the book.
